Today was a pretty day. I rode my bicycle to the park to meet some friends for a park day and had a picnic lunch there. Later today we filled up the little pool so the babies could cool down. I'm loving this weather and so happy it's finally summertime!
Hope you are having a lovely warm week as well! xo

Mama's Rocker/Baby's Fort
Yesterday the sweet Mister and I had a little date night. It wasn't what you'd call a Real date night, but it was still super fun!... much more that a "real" date I think ;) I made him tacos at home and once the little bear was in bed, we went to the store and bought a bunch of much needed baby essentials while his Grandma watched him. We had a lot of fun goofing around and making each other laugh.
On this "baby goodies shopping trip" we bought a rocker so I could rock the little bear to sleep without killing my back. We assembled it that night... we'll truthfully the sweet Mister assembled it while I made a fort out of the giant box it came in. This morning he had a blast playing in it!
I love my new rocker and wish I had bought it a lot sooner. The little bear thinks it's pretty awesome too!

Chicken Soup for the... Tummy.
I sincerely apologize for the cricket sounds over at my blog lately. As you know my little bear was feeling sick. Almost immediately after he began feeling better, my sweet Mister began feeling ill with something similar, so I had to nurse him back to health. Then, almost immediately after he was better I GOT IT! The flu bug or something's been hitting all of us. It's been pretty crazy frustrating. I was so sick all I wanted to do was lay in bed. Sadly my sweet Mister was working so he couldn't help me watch the little bear. But, luckily my sister only had work until about 9 am (she's a baker) so she being an awesome sister (and aunt) watched him for me until I was strong enough to do a little more. LOVE HER!
It being a Saturday that I was sick, I missed out on a few things. My parents were helping run The Third Annual Vintage Motorcycle Show. They've been very involved in it ever since this area has started the shows and "get togethers". I love seeing all the old motor bikes and being able to vote for my favorite one. I'm sure it all went well without me though lol! I also missed our friends graduation party and David's last competition concert. He's been drumming for this great country band lately that was playing in a local competition. If you or your band wins you get to go on to play at Country Jam (a huge annual concert here with many famous country artists). After that you can go on to a national competition where you compete for a record label Well, that night was the final competition and... THEY WON! Yippy!!! It's pretty exciting. Although Davd's not a big country person (nor I) It's still pretty exciting!
Hope ya'll had an exciting weekend xoxo lots of love ;)

Sick Baby Day
Yesterday Baby was sick with a fever and throwing up, although he did seem to be feeling better than the day before. I gave him some toast, because that always helps my upset tummy. It seems like just the other day I was eating toast to help my upset pregnant belly and now I'm giving my baby toast for his upset belly. It's so bitter sweet :( We had a pretty swell day yesterday though, even with a sick baby. David and I got frozen yogurt, then we went for a drive down Unaweep Canyon. Before we turned around to go home, we went on a little hike and I found some beautiful wild flowers! When we got home, we chilled with Phineas and Ferb so the baby could relax(it just so happens that cartoons relax him just as much as it does his Dada).
Hope you had a great weekend! xo

Birth Story
I've decided that it's about time I write out Everett's birth story. Quite a few months late, but better late than Never! My birth experience was SO BLESSED! I had an amazing mid-wife who helped me through every step, but I think I've based most of my concerning over labor from reading this book. I was five days past my due date, so the mid-wife was suggesting to induce, but I totally wasn't down with that, I wanted a completely natural birth. So I told her to sweep the membranes instead at my check up, and she did. I was having slight cramps the rest of the day and was really uncomfortable. I went on a short walk, but didn't make it very far. By 1:30 a.m. my contractions were two to three minutes apart. We called the hospital, and headed over about 3:00 a.m. I was at 5cm. and they decided to admit me. Thank goodness, I was so ready to have this baby! I got in the hospital's awesome, giant, warm tub, but didn't stay in for long, because I was SO uncomfortable. I felt like I needed to move around or something. So, I dried off and sat on the giant exercise ball and moved around on it like all the labor videos suggest. That didn't last too long either though. I now felt like I should just lay down to rest. The nurse came in and gave me washcloths to squeeze for my contractions. Those helped A TON! My sweet husband played some of my favorite relaxing music and gave me a hard-core foot massage while I just laid on my side in the bed getting over the contractions one by one. Before I knew it, it was 6:30 a.m and my mid-wife had come. She is so amazing, she just sat there so calm and cool, knitting, and asking me questions on how I was doing. Eventually though I stopped answering anyone's questions and the contractions became stronger. All I wanted to do was concentrate and get it over with. A little later my mid-wife asked if I felt like I was ready to push. I just shrugged, I didn't think I was ready, because I heard that you get the urge to push before it's even time. She said that I should try to start pushing, so I did. Push, after push, after push his large head finally came out. It was a little easier after that. Before I knew it, this wet, warm tiny baby was whisked onto my chest. I was in such shock, it had never seemed real until that moment, all I could do was cry. The nurse was even so emotional that she wrote the wrong numbers on our wrist bands. He was here though! Everett Franklin McManus, 8lbs 11oz almost two pounds bigger than the mid-wife guessed he would be! His head was also unordinarily large, 14 3/4 inches round! No wounder the pushing was so hard at the beginning!
I was so in love, all I wanted to do was hold his warm little body in my arms all day, but eventually I had to give him up for his first bath and everyone else to have a turn...

Mother's Day evening was very special, because my mister got back from Denver and he made me a spaghetti dinner! I'm so happy he's back(and Everett is too!). We just lounged around that evening enjoying each others company, eating spaghetti, and watching The Best of Will Ferrell. It was the best! I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day as well! xo

Bakah's Baloons
The Mister has been gone since Tuesday, and I knew I would be sad to see him leave, but happy that he gets to go do something cool. I also knew that even though he'd be away, time would fly, and it has! I can't believe it's almost Sunday! So far I've done a ton of yard selling, made a few recipes I've been wanting to try, made a birthday calendar (DIY coming soon!), went Mother's day shopping, and hung out with the girls.
Today I went to a memorial for my friend who was killed by a drunk driver back in August. They had put in a plaque under a tree at the park we were at, It said:
"Rebekah Joy King
Now dancing with her heavenly Father
We miss you so much!"
Peopled shared a few stories, then we all wrote something on a balloon for her and released it together. I got a little teary eyed, but it was so good to see everyone come together to remember this amazing young lady. I wrote to her how I miss her beautiful face and her positive energy. She NEVER had anything bad to say. I wish I was as kind and as loving as her. I still can't believe she's gone... I have so many sad things to say about her death, but seeing how well her amazing family has delt with her passing, I feel I have no right to say negative things while her own family retains from saying them. Anyway, this weekend still isn't over! Mothers Day is tomorrow and I'm excited to see both my Mother's and spend time with Family. I think we're going to go have a picnic lunch up on a hiking trail. It's also my first official Mother's Day!!! Yay! It should be a great day. I hope you have a great Mother's Day too! xo

Dream Dinner.
Tonight I made Broiled Tilapia Parmesan. I've never tried Tilapia before, but I tried out this recipe and it turned out pretty darn good. I also made a salad to go along with it made with dried cranberries, spinach, Gorgonzola cheese, and red leaf lettuce... and of course my all time favorite dressing. We also had my favorite pickles and fresh sourdough bread on the side. It was pretty much my dream dinner! Awww, so satisfied! And it took me less than half an hour to get everything ready! Now that I can't complain about!
I think I will sit back and digest that huge meal while I sip on a mint julep. I made some two nights ago for the first time, and they're pretty much THE BEST. It's especially nice since we have a whole front yard of mint growing like weeds! I suggest this recipe.

Blog Cleaning
The weathers been so "springy" around here lately I love it!
I'm sure you've noticed little changes going on around my blog (I think I'm in a "Spring Cleaning" mood!). Hopefully I'll have everything up the way I want it by the end of this week. I should have plenty of time, because the hub's is leaving tomorrow for something he's playing for, and will be gone until Sunday. I will really miss him, but he will enjoy himself, doing what he loves, and that makes me happy.
