Memorial Day

Our Memorial Day was filled with so much happiness and beauty. It turned out to be such a beautiful day, the weather was perfect and everything went smooth. I still can't believe, though, that my Rachel is married! They seem so happy together though, I don't think anyone could have stopped them, even if they wanted. I'm so, so happy for them and want to say congratulations to them, such a cute couple! It was a memorable Memorial Day for sure!

My little ring bearer, my third piece of homemade wedding pie that day, SO much sun, watching memorial day fireworks.

Life This Week(according to cellphone pictures) #42

Sleepy bear, noodles and co., moon crescent reflections during the solar eclipse, fried rice and orange chicken. so good but so time consuming, forgot that we brought a Subaru to the hardware store, liking mama's motor bike, gnome friends, moving my favorite couch in the world, tailgate picnic, my cracker container

Mr. Darcy, Mustache Party

Last night we had a surprise Bachelorette party for Rachel, well, she knew we were planning one and what day, but that's it. We ended up throwing a Mr. Darcy, mustache party for it. We had a few fun games and embarrassed Rachel enough for the rest of her life, I think. It was the most fun night I remember having in such a long time. We laughed until our stomaches hurt straight on until the early morning.

This evening is the wedding rehearsal and it makes me so nervous to think that the wedding is less than 24 hours away! I can't imagine how Rachel's feeling! Hopefully I can keep myself together, wish me luck :,) xo -Liz

The Heap

As promised, here is a picture of our pile of STUFF. It's not ALL ours, but I do have to admit, that most of it is. It's so ridiculous and embarrassing all you can do when you look at it is laugh. It doesn't look quite like this anymore, because we actually moved a lot of the big things over yesterday, but it's still a pretty big mess.

It's been a long time coming (almost a month since we closed). It's been a lot of hard work and long hours, but I'm actually glad I've had this whole time to get to know my house before moving in. I know it sounds silly, but it almost seems like I got to bond with it a little and get to know it a lot better before just shoving all my stuff in and starting to make it a home.

Life This Week(according to cellphone pics) #41

Some old sandals(my wedding day shoes), the first of my yards roses, exploring the trail across the street, hanging out by the river, Kiwi Sorbet, just sittin on the porch eating ice cream, finally beginning the primering, A happy mother's day, roasting his own hot dog, intently looking through gampa's motorcycle magazine, finding a long lost sharpie, painting taping painting taping, driving his own car, my projects for the day, one of the many unexpected projects we run into along the way, FREE lab/collie/shepherd puppies(my heart).

So, this actually should be titled "Life This last TWO weeks..." Life's been SO crazy, I just completely spaced doing this post last week, so I guess I get to share TWICE as many pictures. I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. I just got back from picking up 10 gallons of paint, so we are officially beginning paint and no more primering! My Father-In-Law was moved to rehab a couple days ago and is off his pain medication! So, thank the Lord, he is on the road to recovery

"Top Tracks"

I hope you don't mind, I'm gonna rant here for a little bit...

I opened Spotify tonight and while I was deciding what I wanted to listen to I clicked on the Top Tracks link. The first song I had heard a hundred times before on popular movies and radio stations. The rest of them sounded like something an early middle schooler would listen to. Am I getting old? I mean, not to dis any of the top artists out there, but I've heard so many great songs in my lifetime and not one of those "Top Tracks" could touch them. Maybe I AM getting old, but it just seems a bit over the top that I couldn't get through a single one of those songs all of them same genera and super repetitive. I've always thought that making music was about being expressive and unique, not about trying to compare and make the same latest top track over again. OK, maybe I AM exaggerating a little, but whatever happened to other genres? Rock? Folk? I don't care, throw in some metal for goodness sake! Am I alone in this?

Foot note: Just in case you're wondering, that IS exactly how I look when I'm listening to bad music.

The Day After Yesterday

I had a little bit of a break for a day or two, while we were waiting for our ceilings to be textured, but now it's back to the same old busy routine. It seems like more and more little things keep adding to our list of things to get done on the house too. The other day we discovered that our second toilet is leaking somewhere. The one upstairs has been from the beginning, so currently both of the toilets are out of order. It's a little discouraging, but I somehow always stay super motivated. Today I'm: Catching up on our heap of laundry, planting the lavender plant I got on mothers day, and then later hopefully make it to the house to work a little more.

I want to give a quick little shout out to all the graduates today! Congratulations on all your hard work. Yesterday we spent all day at my cousin's Zerah Nesha, and Rachel and my future Brother-In-Law(so I like to call him) Jacob's graduation party. I'm so proud of you all! xo -Liz

Orange + Natural: House Edition

Since I've been spending most of my free time working on our house, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite ideas through color categories. Today is obviously orange and natural and next time I'll pick a different color scheme. I hope you enjoy! -xo Liz

Currently

Hanging out by the river the other day.

Obsessing over... Well I'm not sure I'm quite obsessing over it, but I just saw The Vow the other night. I normally don't like most generic love story flicks, this one was pretty good though and I guess it was probably because it was based on true events instead of someone trying to pull a gushy love story out of thin air. I did think that it was quite funny though that a "music producer" was this huge, muscley guy when we all know, in reality he would be tiny... Or at least have a beer belly. (haha the funny things you notice when you're married to a musician).

Working on... Currently working on our house still. They finished texturing(woohoo!) so now all that's left is Painting and cleaning before we finally get to move in and I'm so ready!

Thinking about... A million different things. Mother's Day, family, dreams, health, all of the amazing love we constantly receive from friends and family.

Anticipating... Things to get back to normal. I know everyone has thoes little turning points in their lives where everything happens and changes at once, I'm definitely going through that right now... And have been, but I'm kinda ready for things to just calm down and go back to normal for a while. I'm ready to quit having to stress and work so much on the house, And I'm ready for my FIL to be able to get back to normal again. I know it will be a long while for the natural healing process, but I just can't imagine how hard it is for him to have to lay in the hospital bed all day trying to recover, especially for a work-aholic like himself.

 Listening to...

Eating... One of my favorites for breakfast, a banana almond smoothie.

Wishing... That sometimes I could just disappear from society, grow all my own food and be away from SO much technology for a while. I feel so often that the way we're living is so unhealthy. I'm a big believer that If we could just get away from the big cities for a while and live simply our health would dramaticly increase. If we quit trying to make things so complicated, and just ate simple ingredients and did simple things we could be living such a healthier life. What's up with all these crazy unknown list of ingredients on a food package that should only be a few ingredients long?! I'm so tired of it. Humans weren't made to eat this kind of stuff. We were ment to eat REAL food. Not genetically altered, bleached, colored, or imitation junk! Ok, I'm climbing down from my little soap box now.

Have a great weekend! xo -Liz

Hot Days, Wagons, Water, Toddlers, Snacks, and Fun

Yesterday was pretty crazy, but so much fun. My mom and I had three toddlers and one infant all to ourselves. We normally watch my niece, Shyla, while my SIL is working at the church a few days a week. Yesterday we had my niece and nephew so my other SIL could be at the hospital with her dad. He is doing great, but is currently in surgery on both knees. One has to be totally reconstructed, so please pray that everything goes smooth and that the healing process will just totally transform him from now on.
Anyway, we put all the toddlers in the wagon and baby Ellie in the stroller once it started getting hot out and walked down town to the fountains to let them play. We hung out there for almost two hours, eating snacks and keeping cool.
