Life this week (according to cell phone pictures) #34

Tasty little kumquats, eating the dried bread for the birds, big cousin making sure he's safe, summer clothes, hat, rocking old school SW shorts, splashing, limbs hanging out of bed, finally tried kale chips, having a blast with balloons at Isaiah's birthday, pin the cape on the super hero, one of the hundred photos he took of himself, my first quiche, relaxing with mama.

The Little

Its been quite a while since I did and update on the little man. He's really loving life right now and it's so fun to be his mama. He's been really into pointing out and saying "tar" (star) for anything star shaped lately. He's also been singing Twinkle Twinkle a lot lately which is kinda weird because I don't remember ever singing that one to him yet. He still loves making messes, choo choos, monkeys, balloons, anything that goes, his big cousin Isaiah, swinging(which he calls weeeeeee!).
We still haven't really started potty training yet. I'm hoping that soon he'll start to understand that using the potty like a big boy is cool. He's SOOO much like his Dad it's insane. He loves everything his dad does. Video games, stunts, catch, imitations, anything his dad's doing, he wants in on.
His hair is finally on the move now and starting the grow. It's hard to tell because it's so light it's almost see through, but there's definitely enough there for mama to play with.
Lately, his favorite foods are hot dogs(turkey dogs), eggs, popcorn chicken, and pretty much anything he can dip into salsa or ranch.
His sleeping has been AWESOME, but it's been pretty great since he was about 8 months old. He's usually pretty easy to get down for naps now, but he never likes to take a long one. I think he just doesn't want to waste the day away on sleeping.
That's about all I can think of, other than how fast the time has flown since he was just a new born. It's so insane. This is my favorite age so far though.

Over It

I have been out of commission the past few days The little and I caught a gnarly sickness and it wasn't fun at all. I'm still sick, but feel so much better and refreshed than the last two days. I got so behind on things though that we had a very busy day today, but hopefully I'll catch up in the next few days. It was totally worth getting behind to rest and get better fast though.
We're having a girls night tonight with some of my very favorite lovely ladies. So my weekend is going to kick off with a great start! -xo Liz

6 Outfit Tips

Today I wanted to share with you a few tips that I always keep in mind when putting together an outfit. I don't ALWAYS follow these tips, but definitely try to keep them in mind. These are just a few that I've always found helpful so if they don't work for you that's completely up to you. Enjoy!

1. In order to keep a little bit of proportion in your outfit, make sure to pair tight bottoms with a loose top or loose bottoms with a tighter top. You don't want to be wearing a baggy outfit, but you also don't want to wear a completely tight outfit. There are rare occasions that it works out, but for the most part it's good to remember proportions.

2. Add Color. You should usually mix it up in your outfit. You don't normally want all neutrals or all brights. adding a little bit of brights to your neutrals (or pastels) or neutrals to your brights always works out great.

3. You've probably heard before that you should always match your belt with your shoes. I usually try to follow by that, because I always feel like something's off or my outfit isn't right if I don't. It's usually a good thing to always keep in mind.

4. Dress it up. It's a good idea to dress up your outfits a little if they seem sorta plain. There are so many accessory ideas out there, your choices are pretty much unlimited.

5. Mix it up. Don't don't be too matchy all the time. You don't always have to follow the rules. Try to mix up some patterns, if you're brave enough. There's no reason we should always keep it plain a simple!

6. This is sorta cheesy, but I believe what completes a great outfit it a great smile. I need to be reminded of this so often!

Visiting with Goats

Yesterday we visited Rachel's new goat (in the picture above). She is still living with her mama until she's old enough to be on her own. They're so soft and cuddly! I wanted to hold her forever, but they're just as cute frolicing and playing with their siblings!

Before we left I was telling Everett what we were going to do and by the time we were walking out the door he was saying, "dotes.. beebees" (baby goats). He loves pointing and shouting out the name of something over and over.

We also got to see little baby chicks, and say Hi to the farm dog. What a fun day!

House Hunting

House hunting with the hubs

I posted about house hunting in my last post, but if you haven't read, lately I'll catch you up. The husby and I are finally in a place that we can buy our own house. This whole weekend had been pretty busy! It's exciting and fun to get to go house shopping, but it also comes with plenty of stress and worry. Yesterday we picked out two of the many houses that we looked at that we liked the most. Today we had our family come look at both of them with us and made our final decision on which one we should make an offer on. It's so exciting to finally be in the process of getting our own place, but I also don't want to get my hopes up too high. I've been through all of this before a few years ago and every time it seems to be looking good, something happens to get in the way of getting what we want. I thank all of the prayers and kind words you've been sending our way and I pray to that the Lord provides us with the perfect house that he wants us to have. The picture above just happened to be taken yesterday in the house that we made an offer on today! I'll be keeping you posted on everything and keeping my fingers crossed!
I hope you are having a happy and fun St. Patty's day. I'll be down at the Red Room tonight listening to my brother-in-law playing and hanging out with friends! xo -Liz

currently...

Obsessing over…
Spring outfits and spring weather

Working on…
Getting a house. After all this time trying to get credit, and apply for a house loan, the husby has a great job and (almost) everything is in order so tomorrow(Friday) we're finally going out house hunting! I'm so excited, I feel like I've been waiting for this point forever and I can't wait for all of it to actually be over with.

Thinking about…
How funny it is that my kid is a cheese lover and prefers raw goat cheese over any other cheese. Not as cheep as the other stuff, but happy he goes for the good stuff at least!

Anticipating…
Getting a house. I know it's kinda in the distance right now, but hoping it goes faster than I think it will. ...And helping a special someone with their wedding!!! So exciting!

Listening to…

Eating…
Some of the most delicious free turkey courtesy of The bread co. with ezekiel bread.

Wishing…
Time would slow down every once in a while. It's amazing how fast things creep up on me anymore.

Photo Challenge(first half).

This is the first half of March's photo a day challenge. I love to see what everyone comes up with for the challenge of the day. My Instagram username is @firstaidliz if you want to follow me.

Everett. He's really been into coloring lately! I love it.

Passion.

The other day I read an article on having a passion. It really got me thinking. The article read how a friend's parents had just recently retired. She had asked her parents why they did the same things every day. They answered that they just didn't really know what they like to do anymore. They had spent so much time focusing on making money and working forty hours a week that they had forgotten what their passion was. She later asked a friend what his passion was and he had no answer. It freaked him out a little and made him contemplate. He listed everyday things that he liked(music, computers) but couldn't list anything that he was passionate about. After a long discussion he decided that he was going move to Austin to try and discover his passion.
I'm a person that can't name just one distinct passion. I don't have any over the top amazing talents or gifts that I also love doing. But the few of my passions are writing, fashion, vintage... I can't even go on (I feel like I'll dig a deep hole of lists for you). You might have heard about our little vintage shop endeavors. It's gonna be hard and scary, but if we actually get to that place where we love what we're doing I think I can be satisfied. I feel like I have to remind myself every day and look at why I'm doing what I'm doing. Not just doing things to get by, but to really live out your passion, love what you do, and concentrate on what you know you really love.
So now I want to ask you, what is your passion?

B&A

So, I thought that I had a better before picture of this shirt, but it turns out I deleted it on accident. Before, this shirt was huge, like XL and it had no shape whatsoever, but I loved the color and print. After a few times trying it on and going back to the sewing machine it turned out pretty good, I think! xo -Liz
